Xeomin: The Wrinkle Reducer

May 2, 2018 by Kathy Haney Leave a Comment

In addition to Botox and Dysport, Merz’s Xeomin now offers a third choice for those who desire a wrinkle reducing treatment. Xeomin is made out of incobotulinumtoxinA, and works similar to the other two treatments with a few differences.

One of the major differences of Xeomin is in the manufacturing process. All accessory proteins are taken out of Xeomin, so potentially there is less of a chance of any negative effects occurring with this product. The proteins removed could have also caused a resistance building to Botox.

When trying to decide between Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin, it is recommended that you schedule a consultation to see which product would be best for you and your skin. Our Master Certified Injector and Skincare Specialist, Kathy Haney, takes into consideration the extent of action, smoothness of the expected end result, time required for the treatment to go into effect, the area that is treated (forehead, crow’s feet, neck, frown lines, etc.), and the overall desired outcome. Kathy Haney understands the differences between these individual products and successfully matches each to individual patients.

Does Xeomin Last as Long as Botox?

Xeomin normally lasts as long as Botox and Dysport, which is about 3 to 4 months, though some patients have noticed that it lasts longer than Botox and Dysport.

When Will Results be Seen?

Unlike dermal fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm, the results are not seen immediately post treatment with Xeomin. It takes around 6 to 7 days for the full effect of Xeomin to set in. As Xeomin treatments are continued, the muscles of the face are trained to stay relaxed which helps to prevent future wrinkles. This also means less treatments are required.

Is Xeomin Safe?

Xeomin is a very safe treatment. When performed by a professional, the chances of developing side effects are very minimum. Bruising and bleeding are the most common side effects, but steps to control and heal them can be taken.

Are You a Good Candidate?

It is recommended that you set up a consultation to determine whether or not you are a good candidate. If you are pregnant or nursing, this treatment is not for you. To determine your individual needs, we will work with you and do our best to develop the most effective treatment plan.

During your consultation, current medications that you are taking will be discussed. There are certain medications such as blood thinners and over the counter NSAIDs, such as Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Anacin that can make you more vulnerable to bleeding and bruising. It is also recommended that you refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages the night before a treatment.

Consultations are free at Transformation MediSpa. Just call our office and ask to set an appointment with our Master Certified Injector and Skincare Specialist, Kathy Haney.

The Benefits of Xeomin

There are many benefits that you can gain from Xeomin. With its main focus being the treatment of wrinkles in the forehead, Xeomin can help to give you a more youthful appearance. Over time, these lines become aggressive and implement into the skin, but with Xeomin, the underlying muscles are relaxed, and these lines are smoothed over and no longer form.

Xeomin can also be performed in a short amount of time. In fact, the treatment can be completed within 5 to 15 minutes! You can also immediately return to your regular activities with no recovery time needed. We do recommend that you avoid rubbing the area to prevent Xeomin from spreading.

If you are interested in Xeomin, call Transformation MediSpa today! We are dedicated to helping you achieve the more youthful look that you desire.
