We are now offering PRP at Transformation MediSpa! You may ask, but what is PRP exactly? The first thing to know is that PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma.
Let’s break this down.
Platelet- disk-shaped cells found in the blood that help clotting and healing.
Plasma- In this case, plasma is just the carrier for the platelets. The platelets are mixed in with the plasma.
So, Platelet Rich Plasma is plasma that has a greater than average number of platelets!
What does it do?
What doesn’t it do? PRP
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
- Tightens and tones skin
- Remedies mild collagen and volume loss
- Remedies crow’s feet and dark undereye circles
- Reduces acne scarring
- Reduces hair loss
- Causes improvement in skin hydration, texture, and tone
And, because of its healing properties PRP is often used in the medical industry, so it is not merely cosmetic.
What’s the catch?
There is none! Your own platelet rich plasma is used as an injection or topical treatment. It’s by you, for you. There’s minimal to no downtime, and because it is made of your own platelets, there is no risk of allergic reaction. PRP can go in places that other fillers and injections can’t.
How does this even work?
A bit of your blood will be drawn and put in a centrifuge. This spinning contraption separates the red blood cells from the plasma. This plasma is your PRP, which will then be injected or topically applied to trouble areas. The procedure is quick- only about 15 minutes.
How soon until I see results?
Usually patients see a refreshed glow right after the procedure, but within a few weeks of treatment, an overall improvement in skin hydration, texture, and tone can be seen. Results will gradually improve over time. Every patient is different, and some may require multiple visits.
